£60,000 – £70,000 base (FTE / pro-rata) + Commission & Performance Bonuses / Full-Time or Part-Time (4 days / 28 hours per week) Initially Remote, then 2 days a week in Manchester Full Time
About the Client

Our client is a rapidly growing, purpose-driven boutique consultancy that helps organisations align their workplaces with their overarching business strategy. They partner with mid-market and enterprise teams to optimise performance, engagement, and sustainable business growth. They have built a phenomenal reputation for delivering deeply relational, high-impact interventions. As they enter an exciting phase of scaling into UK and international markets, they are looking for a commercially minded, sophisticated sales professional to join their close-knit team.

The Role

As the Business Development Lead, you will be responsible for driving new business growth and expanding the consultancy’s commercial footprint. This is not a transactional, high-volume cold calling role; it is a highly consultative, relationship-driven position. You will manage a blended pipeline, turning warm inbound marketing leads into strategic partnerships, while selectively targeting your own networks to open doors with high-value clients.

The client is highly flexible and open to shaping this role around the right person, offering this as either a full-time position or a flexible 4-day week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consultative Lead Conversion: Qualify and convert inbound leads generated through existing marketing and referral channels.
  • Strategic Growth: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, targeting C-Suite executives and HR Directors across various sectors.
  • Collaborative Pitching: Partner directly with delivery consultants to shape compelling, tailored proposals and pitches for complex client needs.
  • Pipeline Management: Own the sales cycle from initial contact to close, managing your pipeline and helping refine the internal sales process.
  • Brand Ambassador: Represent the consultancy with credibility, warmth, and strategic insight at industry events and networking activities.
What We Are Looking For
  • Sector Expertise: Proven business development or sales experience within consulting, Learning & Development (L&D), Organisational Development (OD), or Leadership Development.
  • C-Suite Credibility: Comfortable navigating complex B2B sales cycles and holding peer-to-peer conversations with HR Directors and senior stakeholders.
  • Relationship-Driven Sales: A proven track record of converting early-stage conversations into long-term commercial collaborations.
  • Modern Sales Approach: A self-aware salesperson with a learning mindset, who is tech-savvy enough to utilise modern tools (including AI) to streamline processes.
What’s on Offer
  • Competitive base salary of £60k–£70k (pro-rata for part-time).
  • Quarterly commission structure (estimated circa £15k per annum) plus company performance bonuses (5%–10%).
  • A values-led environment with an established pipeline and a growing, premium client base.
  • Real professional autonomy and the opportunity to grow alongside the business.
