Technology Transformation Lead (Consultant)
NW TTL 0906
We are looking for an experienced Technology Transformation Lead for a high-profile, long-term international development project funded by a major global financial institution.
This is a senior advisory role spanning three and a half years on a part-time basis (approximately 220 days total, averaging 5–6 days per month). The successful consultant will act as a key advisor to help build the entire digital strategy, framework, and technology infrastructure for a brand-new professional membership organisation in Africa.
Please note: This position is currently at the bidding stage. The successful candidate will be formally named in the project proposal, with the assignment starting in September 2026 once the contract is awarded.
Key Responsibilities
As a strategic advisor, you will not be doing hands-on coding or technical development. Instead, you will guide the leadership team through setting up their entire digital ecosystem from scratch.
- Strategic Roadmap: Advise the new institute on its overall technology strategy and digital transformation roadmap.
- Define Requirements: Clearly map out system requirements, technical specifications, and standards for core infrastructure.
- Procurement Support: Act as the technical expert during vendor selection, advising on the tendering and purchase of critical software and platforms.
- Oversee Implementation: Support the integration, rollout, and quality assurance of core systems.
- Governance Frameworks: Establish robust IT governance, data security processes, and operational workflows for the organisation.
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role, you must bring a blend of senior digital transformation experience and a deep understanding of membership, regulatory, or educational organisations.
Essential Criteria:
- A proven track record of digital leadership and delivering complex technology strategies.
- Direct experience working with professional bodies, membership organisations, certification providers, or regulatory authorities.
- Deep familiarity with implementing or advising on CRMs, Learning Management Systems (LMS), or professional training platforms.
- Strong background in writing technical specifications and navigating formal procurement and tendering processes.
- Holds a Master’s degree or equivalent advanced professional qualification.
Desirable Criteria:
- Prior consulting experience with major international accounting or financial membership bodies.
- Experience working on donor-funded development projects within Africa.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multicultural, international project teams.
Contract & Logistics
- Commitment: A long-term, part-time engagement of roughly 220 days spaced across 3.5 years, allowing you to easily balance this alongside your other consultancy work.
- Travel: Primarily remote working, with occasional, fully funded travel to Africa as required by major project milestones.
- Interview Process: A simple, single-stage MS Teams interview.
