£43,277 – £53,194 per annum (pro rata to 6 months) / 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract Hybrid, with 3 days onsite (October–March), additional flexibility over the winter period / Central London (Head Office) Contract

This is an opportunity to join one of the UK’s most prestigious higher education institutions, internationally recognised for excellence in teaching, research, and student experience.

The organisation is committed to equipping its students with the technical and professional skills needed to succeed in their studies and future careers. Within this environment, the Digital Skills team plays a central role in helping learners build confidence and capability in using data, tools, and technology effectively.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Training Specialist (Digital Skills) to deliver engaging training and support across a range of tools and platforms, including Excel, Power BI, and introductory programming languages such as Python or R. The role combines teaching, coaching, event management, and collaboration with academics and external partners. It’s a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a people-focused role, and wants to make a measurable difference in learners’ success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver impactful training sessions – workshops, lectures, and drop-ins, both in-person and online.
  • Support learners of all levels, from beginners through to advanced, using a coaching and mentoring approach.
  • Develop and adapt learning resources, tailoring them to different academic disciplines and industry contexts.
  • Plan, promote, and coordinate training events, ensuring smooth delivery and strong engagement.
  • Work closely with academics, careers services, and external partners to align training with student and industry needs.
  • Evaluate impact, gathering feedback and data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to innovation, sharing ideas and supporting junior colleagues.
Experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, including advanced functionality and data handling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, with exposure to Power BI.
  • Proven experience delivering software training in a university or higher education setting.
  • Confident in leading face-to-face workshops, lectures, and informal drop-in support.
  • Coaching style of delivery, supporting learners with self-paced study.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable
  • Experience with Python or R.
  • Familiarity with academic learning technologies.
  • Experience creating or adapting blended/online learning resources.

If you’re passionate about digital skills, thrive on engaging with learners, and want to make a real impact, this could be the role for you.
