Adaptive Learning Developer (Storyline) – Maritime Simulation
CT ALD 0303
Company
Instinct is partnering with a simulation organisation that delivers immersive, high-fidelity training solutions to seafarers and maritime professionals globally. Their programmes simulate real-world environments and decision-making scenarios, supporting complex operational settings.
As part of a major digital transformation initiative, they are now evolving their eLearning portfolio into adaptive, scenario-led learning experiences.
Role
We are seeking an experienced Adaptive Learning Developer / Instructional Designer with expertise to support the transformation of approximately 200 existing eLearning courses into adaptive learning journeys.
This is a large-scale piece of work focused on converting linear content into immersive, branching, decision-based experiences. The successful candidate will work closely with SMEs to ensure technical and operational accuracy while designing engaging, logic-driven pathways aligned to maritime roles.
Key Responsibilities
Adaptive Learning Design & Development
- Convert existing simulation-based eLearning into adaptive learning journeys
- Design complex branching scenarios and variable-driven logic in Articulate Storyline
- Create role-based decision pathways (e.g. captain-level judgement and consequence-based learning)
- Build immersive, scenario-led digital experiences aligned to real-world maritime operations
Programme Transformation
- Support the large-scale redevelopment of 200+ courses
- Structure content into scalable, repeatable adaptive templates
- Ensure consistency and quality across a high-volume development programme
Stakeholder & SME Collaboration
- Work closely with SMEs to ensure accuracy and realism
- Translate technical simulation content into engaging digital learning
- Contribute to iterative review cycles and refinement
Skillset Required
- Advanced Articulate Storyline development (branching, variables, complex logic essential)
- Proven experience designing adaptive learning solutions
- Instructional design capability
- Experience in maritime, defence, or other highly technical/regulated sectors (desirable)
- Ability to manage and structure high-volume content redevelopment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently within a defined SOW
The Reward
This is a significant and high-impact transformation project within a specialist simulation environment. It offers the opportunity to work on immersive, technically complex learning solutions at scale, shaping how maritime professionals are trained globally.
