We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK higher education institution for an experienced VLE Administrator to join their IT and Digital Learning team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the management, development, and enhancement of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) while supporting high-impact projects across faculties. This role offers the chance to work in a high-performing academic IT environment at the forefront of digital learning. The successful candidate will support the VLE through reactive and proactive maintenance, system enhancements, and operational management, ensuring a seamless and reliable experience for staff and students. You will also contribute to ongoing VLE deployment projects, providing expertise and continuity during key transitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage requests for support, ensuring users and stakeholders are kept informed.
- Provide effective solutions to system issues, including modifications, workarounds, and enhancements, escalating where required.
- Collaborate with service providers and internal teams to maintain stable, secure, and robust VLE systems.
- Contribute to operational reporting, root cause analysis, and change management initiatives.
- Share knowledge across teams, providing guidance to colleagues and acting as a point of reference for VLE-related queries.
- Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong understanding of higher education VLE/DLE environments and how faculties interact with them.
- Experience working with LMS platforms such as Canvas or Moodle and ticketing systems like ServiceNow.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to work at pace in a fast-changing environment.
- Strong customer focus and the ability to translate user requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Effective communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly to a diverse audience.
Desirable Skills:
- HTML/CSS experience for LMS presentation and functionality.
- SQL knowledge for data manipulation and operational support.
- Python experience for reporting, automation, or system integration.
