Instinct is working with a modern, digitally focused UK university committed to widening access to education through innovative, flexible learning models. Serving both UK and international students, they specialise in providing career-driven higher education through fully online and blended delivery modes. Alongside the provision of high quality courses, they prioritise inclusivity, innovation, and student success, and continuously invest in the accessibility and usability of their digital learning platforms.

They are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Platform Accessibility Tester to support the development and improvement of their digital systems. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform rigorous accessibility testing of web platforms, learning systems, and applications using both semi-automated and manual methods.
  • Apply assistive technologies such as screen readers (JAWS, NVDA), screen magnifiers, and keyboard navigation to replicate real user experiences.
  • Identify barriers to accessibility and provide clear, actionable recommendations for improvements.
  • Draft high-quality accessibility statements and testing reports for internal and external use.
  • Collaborate with internal development teams to support the remediation of accessibility issues and validate implemented fixes.
  • Assist in training or knowledge-sharing sessions with internal teams on accessibility standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Prioritise testing activities based on platform traffic, risk, and user impact.
Skills & Experience
Required:
  • Solid working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines (EAA knowledge highly desirable).
  • Experience conducting both manual and automated accessibility audits using tools such as Microsoft Insights, Axe, WAVE, etc.
  • Familiarity with a range of assistive technologies including JAWS, NVDA, ZoomText, or VoiceOver.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting accessibility testing across various browsers, devices, and platforms.
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in drafting reports and accessibility statements.
  • Ability to collaborate with developers and product teams to ensure recommended improvements are implemented effectively.
Desirable:
  • Prior experience in the Higher Education sector or working with education-related platforms.
  • Familiarity with tools and systems such as Moodle VLESITSSalesforceBlackbaud, and common CMS platforms.
  • Lived experience of accessibility needs is highly valued and brings important user perspective to this role.
