Up to £42,000 per annum Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote) West Midlands Full Time

We are working with an esteemed organisation who are seeking a Learning & Qualifications Product Manager to take ownership of a defined portfolio of training, qualification, and digital learning products. This role is responsible for managing the full product lifecycle, including development, maintenance, review, and withdrawal.

You will play a key role in shaping the product portfolio, ensuring it remains relevant, high quality, and aligned with industry needs. This includes identifying opportunities for new product development, responding to market insight, and ensuring products are positioned effectively, including alignment to funding opportunities where appropriate.

The role also includes line management responsibility, supporting and developing a small team of Product and Technical Developers.

Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Strategy and Planning
  • Manage and prioritise a portfolio of products aligned to organisational goals
  • Use market insight, customer feedback, and performance data to inform decisions
  • Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for new or improved products
  • Provide clear visibility of pipeline, priorities, and resource requirements
Product Lifecycle Management
  • Oversee all stages of the product lifecycle from development through to withdrawal
  • Ensure structured processes are followed and decisions are clearly documented
  • Maintain a regular review cycle to ensure products remain current and relevant
Product Design and Delivery
  • Define product structure, assessment approaches, and delivery models
  • Incorporate digital and blended learning solutions where appropriate
  • Provide direction to developers and approve key design milestones
  • Ensure strong quality from initial development through to launch
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with internal teams including compliance, operations, marketing, and customer support
  • Align stakeholders on scope, timelines, and delivery plans
  • Incorporate insights from industry, customers, and regulatory bodies into product decisions
Quality and Compliance
  • Ensure products meet internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Maintain clear documentation and governance processes
  • Support audit activity and respond to compliance requirements
Funding and Commercial Alignment
  • Identify opportunities to align products with funding streams
  • Ensure product design and documentation meet funding eligibility criteria
  • Consider cost, viability, and market demand in decision-making
Leadership and Team Development
  • Line manage and support 1–3 Product/Technical Developers
  • Set clear expectations and support professional development
  • Promote consistent ways of working and high-quality outputs across the team
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and address process inefficiencies and recurring issues
  • Improve tools, templates, and workflows
  • Lead problem-solving and ensure actions are followed through
Skills and Experience:
Essential
  • Experience in product management, ideally within training, qualifications, or e-learning
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple workstreams
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Ability to interpret data, market insight, and customer feedback to inform decisions
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working with quality assurance processes and regulatory frameworks
Desirable
  • Understanding of instructional design or learning methodologies
  • Experience with learning management systems or digital learning tools
  • Familiarity with training providers or industry standards in professional learning
  • Experience working in an education or awarding organisation environment
