Apprenticeship Assessment Specialist

We’re working with an established professional education and awarding organisation that is looking to engage an experienced Apprenticeship Assessment Specialist to support an important assessment development project.
Following the government’s reforms to apprenticeship assessment, the organisation has developed an assessment strategy and framework and is now looking for a specialist to help ensure its assessments are correctly mapped, appropriately structured and supported by clear guidance for apprentices, training providers and assessors.
This is a hands-on role, working closely with the internal product team to review and finalise assessment documentation ahead of a planned pilot in December and go-live in January.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and developing apprenticeship assessment documentation and frameworks
- Ensuring assessments are correctly mapped against the relevant apprenticeship standards and assessment outcomes
- Developing and refining guidance for apprentices, training providers and assessors
- Ensuring assessment materials meet relevant Ofqual Conditions of Recognition and Skills England requirements
- Reviewing grading approaches, assessment criteria and descriptors
- Ensuring assessments are appropriately structured and effective for apprentices and training providers
- Providing assessment expertise and guidance to the wider team as documentation is finalised
- Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders ahead of pilot and launch
We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong experience in apprenticeship assessment design and development
- A strong understanding of apprenticeship standards and assessment requirements
- Experience mapping assessments against apprenticeship standards, outcomes and/or KSBs
- Knowledge of Ofqual requirements and Skills England apprenticeship assessment requirements
- Experience developing assessment documentation, guidance, grading criteria and/or assessment descriptors
- An understanding of assessment at different qualification levels
- The ability to review existing frameworks, identify gaps and confidently recommend improvements
- Experience within an awarding organisation, EPAO, professional body or similar regulated environment would be particularly valuable
Experience within payroll or finance would be advantageous but is not essential.
