Instinct is currently working with our client, a leading utility provider, to find a Lead Instructional Designer to join their team to create compelling learning for internal use.

The role

Reporting to the Talent and Development Director, the Lead Instructional Designer is responsible for guiding a small design team to create high-quality learning experiences. 

This role involves developing a comprehensive design and content strategy and mentoring team members to improve their skills and capabilities through feedback and development. 

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Develop learning solutions for face-to-face, virtual, digital, and eLearning delivery.
  • Identify best practices, trends, and advancements in learning design and technology.
  • Complete projects within agreed timelines, budgets, and specified expectations.
What you’ll need

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in instructional design, lesson and curriculum planning, and developing best practice learning experiences.
  • Strong background in leading, developing, and supporting high-performing teams.
  • Excellent understanding of learning theories, instructional design models, and content creation frameworks.
  • Proficient in course development software, HTML, Flash programming, and at least one Learning Management System.
  • Skilled in visual design (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator), storyboarding, and writing effective instructional text, audio, and video scripts.
  • CIPD Learning and Development Level 5 or TAP equivalent
The Rewards

As well as the opportunity to work within a leading utility provider, you will also be working one day a fortnight on site in Reading (with the rest of your fortnight spent working from home) on a salary of up to £65,000.
