A pretty obvious statement you would think?…However the amount of enquiries that we are receiving from clients for “New Business Animals” is unprecedented. We are finding those organisations are looking for all levels from door opening Telesales People right up to Sales Directors. Is this a sign that the climate is changing or is sales recession proof???
So, we all know that good sales staff are worth their weight in err sales…….Therefore good business developers should be desirable no matter what the market conditions. However in the recruitment industry, for instance, many companies decided to cut their sales forces during the height of the recession suggesting that it was more to do with the economy than sales ability that drives their growth.
The recent boom in business development requests could yet be an indicator of the market taking a favourable turn. It appears to be a sign of confidence returning and companies realising that they can no longer “wait and see”. Directors and Managers have to grow their businesses and the only way to do this is to increase sales by employing top rate sales people.
We do however all know industries that don’t need any business developers and will still smash sales this weekend………that is flowers, cards and chocolate retailers………..have you sorted yours???
